Breads and everything-with-flour-ingredient has been the staple food eaten by many people in all countires. For centuries, it has developed and improved into different pastries, forms and flavors to cater the growing needs of different health-conscious individuals. Over the years, it has been known to be one of the important breakfast item next to cereals and milk. History already proved that our ancestors has been making bread out of grains. The National Academy of Sciences has discovered traces of starch in prehistoric mortar and pestle-like rocks used by the early civilization. Because of the advancement of Science, innovations after innovations has created the modern bread you are eating right now.
There are factors that led to the innovation of the bread, these are leavening, the refined flour and invention of the mechanized slicing. Without the leavening through the use of the yeast, as a primary ingredient that makes our bread rise and fluffy, we would still be under the dark age of flatbread, the first recorded bread that was made my humans. Only around 300 B.C in Ancient Egypt was the yeast production was commercialized. Up until today, there are countries that are still making the flatbread, particularly our Middle East brothers, our Indian brothers and some Central American households.
The earliest bread grains was first created by hands with rocks, resulting from coarse and whole grain bread. The process was only refined around 800 B.C through the early stages of milling. For hundreds of years, it was widely distributed as a whole loaves to be cut at home. Not until in 1917, when jeweler Otto Rohwedder created the first mechanized bread slicer.
WHAT MAKES A GREAT BREAD, GREAT?
In 1969, Horatio Sye Slocumm was sent in Malaysia to start a bakery, that is where Gardenia was born. Within the span of four short years, it became the leader in the bread industry with an astounding 99 percent brand recall rate and 80 percent top-of-mind recall. Gardenia’s range of products grew and evolved through the years, becoming better and better. And now produces a variety of baked products to satisfy consumers’ demands.
With that brief history, it’s no wonder how a 35-year of baking experiences brought the Gardenia brand into a popular household name. Fast forward, Gardenia has created different bread treats. One is the famous Gardenia White Bread Classic. Gardenia adapting to the demand of the health-conscious consumers created a healthy line of Gardenia Breads.

Personally, I have been eating Gardenia Brand for its tasty and quality products. There are many brands out there in the market, but they are all incomparable to Gardenia by a mile. The softness and thickness of the bread, the pleasing aroma and the taste is just so right. It has folate-enriched with vitamins and minerals, zero trans fat and cholesterol free. So freshness is always quaranteed. The white and flavored breads are my favorites while some of my relatives and friends preferred the High Fiber and Slim&Fit varieties. Its buns and rolls are perfect for the snacks of the little children going to school.
There is a resort in the North that caters every kids’ dream
More than 4 hours drive from Metro Manila, near the famous Sunflower Farm in Tayug, there is a famous resort somewhere in Rosales that is indeed a haven for the kids and kids at heart. Located Brgy. Rizal, Provincial Road, Rosales, Pangasinan, a 10-15 minutes drive to SM Rosales.
Cozy Place Resort is truly a cozy resort. Giant ornaments, dinosaur-and-flowery-themed, colorful resort design and the vintage wooden nipa huts to give shelter to the excursionists at an affordable cost of rent. True to its name, its swimming pools are made for toddlers and pre-adolescent kids. It has 8 swimming pools, and only one pool is dedicated for adults with a 6-feet depth and the rest are children-friendly depth. There are 2-curved high slides opposite each other, and 3-straight middle slides if you want a direct immersive experience straight to the water. You could also immerse yourself under the water fall that is ideal for meditative purpose. There are also colorful small containers that drops water at a specific interval. An umbrella-like fountain, and children mini-slides at almost every pool. Foliage and palm trees gives a shade for UV-conscious customers They also have amenities like grilling area, eating area, outside shower area and a videoke area. They have event center and a lodge for conventions and group activities. And a nice looking and clean hotel if you want to book for a room during your stay.

CHILD-FRIENDLY BUT NEEDS MORE IMPROVEMENTS It is indeed a great place for kids solely because of its child-friendly seven (7) swimming pools. But for adults, you will only contain yourself with a single swimming pool, and for tall guys above 6-feet, that is not impressive. The location is great because you can buy anything outside and the stores are accessible. Plus if you want to hang out and eat dinner at SM Rosales, it is likely possible and convenient due to its nearness. The resort is good and child-haven but for its services and some amenities, it needs more improvements.
There are instagramable areas good for photo ops and selfie fad. The cafeteria or canteen also needs a lot of improvement. The rooms aren’t fully-furnished but the basics are there. There is still an on-going constructions and or repairs at some areas. But the security is great and there are warning signs within the premises.
Quezon City – Last Saturday, June 1, 2019, Penmaster’s League held their 2nd grand book fair at the 4th floor of J Rich Building in Sto. Domingo Avenue, Quezon City.
It was a successful event for the said indie organization. Every year, they organize a book fair to give way to their in-house writers’ works and other indie writers associated with them. This second book fair, they managed to invite many publishers including the household names like Precious Pages, PHR, Booklat, Black Ink and other small publishing houses making name in the publishing industry like 8letters and Fairy Publishing to name a few.
This event will not be successful without the head of the Penmaster’s League and our coach, Ms. Emerald Blake, together with the other organizers.
The grand fair was presented with a little program. An intermission number from one of the indie author serenaded the audience, then a free workshop themed, “Unleasing the Writer in You” conducted by Ms. Emerald Blake commenced. After which, another intermission number, a Spoken Word Poetry was presented before the closing of the program. The publishers present in the said event were awarded an appreciation certificates. But before they call it a day, they held a little draw as a token for the attendees. Two lucky winners were announced, and were given a free book courtesy of our coach, Ms. Emerald Blakes’ book “Memories of Jeddah”.
It was a fun day and I got to personally met other indie writers like one of my co-admin in my previous publishing company who happened to be a published author too.

A definitive guide on how I started blogging, then migrated from Blogger to WordPress platform.
HOW I STARTED BLOGGING
I have been blogging since 2016. Back then, I wasn’t as active compared right now. Before anything else, you need to ask yourself, why do you want to blog? Should you blog or not blog especially this 2020? Blogging is a tiring task that needs your full attention and some time, if not full time. It’s a continuous work that you need to deal with every day. It will divide your time or eat up all of your time even just by making a single article alone. What more if you have a deadline?
You see, when I started, I didn’t know all of these. I remember, I started my content writing in a small publishing house. My first article is about Writer’s Block and the rest is history. I only got the full grasp of what it meant by blogging only when I started. From being an article writer, I was given the opportunity to handle a website and a group dedicated to indie writers. I didn’t know it was this time consuming especially when you have a regular day job plus writing your book.
For a little background, aside from being an editor and website manager, I am also joining writing contests and submitting short stories to some writing entities. In addition, I am writing a book in the sideline so I need a channel to show my works to the world. Aside from a writing app, I created a Facebook page. The Facebook page is my dedicated author page. I did it for the sole purpose of channeling all of Chesz Dylan’s works which includes poems and other related stuff.
How many articles have I published back then? It’s not as many as you might think. When I became an editor and a head content writer, my spare time was preoccupied with articles I have to proofread and edit every day. It has gotten to a point where I can’t write my own article anymore. I’m not saying this to boast how hard-working ass I was. It’s what I love to do and I gained experience from it though it was all a volunteer work. Until I seldom to not update my personal blog in Blogspot because of the tasks I have to accomplish.
Fast forward, some things happened. I resigned from all that admin work. After that, I managed to self-published my very own book. It was a Young Adult fiction. I started to become active again, first on my author’s Facebook page. Then I managed my free blogger account and made a copy of my articles on my previous website and published it on my author website. The copyright was all mine so there weren’t any issues in migrating my works.
During this time, I joined in some different blogging and writing groups. I need their experience and knowledge for this demanding industry and learn. To utilize that knowledge and use them in my personal advantage. I became accustomed to the blogger community, until such time I realized that I need to monetize from my blogs and site.
Blogspot was a great site for amateur bloggers. It’s very intuitive and the site navigation, writing, posting, and sharing are easy. But just like any amateur bloggers that need to improve their craft and monetize from their works, their free site was limited for me or for bloggers to blog or not to blog in general especially this 2020. This realization didn’t just come from my personal opinion, but rather, reading from experienced bloggers in social media and the internet.

LOOKING FOR HOSTING SITES
Since I want to level up my blogging career, I started googling for WordPress and the hosting sites that best cater to my needs as a writer. I googled and compared different reviews so I can get and know all the best offers of these hosting sites. I narrowed it down and personally deliberated it into five hosting sites.
Bluehost
BLUEHOST
BlueHost is indeed the #1 in almost all reviews I searched even in 2020. Based on their product and service review, they specialize in a ton of storage compared to what’s in the market. It was enticing but just like any hosting site, they have their pros and cons.
PRICE – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ $2.95/month (Cheap) UPTIME AND LOAD TIME– ⭐⭐⭐ STORAGE – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ADDITIONAL SERVICES – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Affordable) SEO – ⭐⭐ ⭐ BILLING – YEARLY REVIEW – They have a bad to mediocre customer support
This is by far my personal choice, but I didn’t choose this hosting site because of one important factor that I need to address. I will tell the reason in my conclusion later.
PRICE – ⭐⭐⭐ $3.95/month (Mediocre) UPTIME AND LOAD TIME– ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ STORAGE – ⭐⭐⭐ ADDITIONAL SERVICES – ⭐⭐ (Expensive) SEO – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ BILLING – YEARLY REVIEW – They have a great customer support
This hosting site is just as good as BlueHost and Siteground when it comes to the numbers of hosted sites. They have cheap intro plans, but they lack some features in their cheap plan that can be found in other competitions.
PRICE – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ $2.78/month (Cheap) UPTIME AND LOAD TIME– ⭐⭐⭐⭐ STORAGE – ⭐⭐⭐ ADDITIONAL SERVICES – ⭐ ⭐ (Expensive) SEO – ⭐⭐ ⭐⭐ BILLING – YEARLY REVIEW – They have a good customer support
This is what I purchased. I was actually torn between Siteground and Dreamhost. Based on reviews, they have almost the same features as Siteground, both price, storage, and uptime and load time.
PRICE – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ $2.59/month (Cheap) UPTIME AND LOAD TIME– ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ STORAGE – ⭐⭐⭐ ADDITIONAL SERVICES – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Affordable) SEO – ⭐⭐ ⭐⭐ BILLING – MONTHLY/YEARLY REVIEW – They have great customer support
This is a WordPress plan when you registered at the WordPress.com version. What’s great at this plan is the payment is automatically converted to the country you are in, so it’s not a hassle to convert the US dollar into your currency. And since it is already converted, it is practically cheap. It’s already running under WordPress so you already have an advantage.
PRICE – ⭐⭐ $5/month (Expensive) UPTIME AND LOAD TIME– ⭐⭐⭐ STORAGE – ⭐ ADDITIONAL SERVICES – ⭐⭐⭐ (Reasonable) SEO – ⭐⭐ ⭐⭐ BILLING – YEARLY REVIEW – They have a good customer support
Every hosting site has its great, good, mediocre, and bad features. Those are the top 5 hosting sites you can choose whether to blog or not to blog this 2020. The reasons I chose Dreamhost over other competitions are among as follows:
✔️ Cheap ✔️Domain name fee is cheap ✔️ Free site migration (as I came from Blogger to WordPress) ✔️Pre-WordPress installation ✔️Uptime and Load time are great ✔️SEO is great ✔️Monthly Billing- the important factor I considered that toppled all the other hosting sites in my personal opinion.
*Storage and email is the least I considered because personally, it’s not that important for now. I could change my plan in the future, just in case.
*I was broke when I purchased the plan. So minus having the discount for the 2 or 3-year plan, if you can avail it, I am not discouraging you to splurge your money in it. Again, the monthly payment was the important reason why I availed for the Dreamhost since they are the only hosting site that has a monthly payment term.
STARTING A BLOG
After choosing the hosting site. I received my pre-WordPress account in my email. Btw, I also considered DreamHost because of its Pre-WordPress setup. I know a lot of technical sides but I am not an expert. With this 2020 feature, I don’t need to install WordPress on the laptop, where lies one of the problems because most of the time I am using my mobile. I won’t divulge on this matter any further as I only want to emphasize setting up a blog and not the technical terms. So I will just make it easy for non-technical bloggers out there. Please also consider that the domain name you will choose is also important as it will represent your brand. The greater the name, the greater the impact it will have on the readers or consumers.
HOSTING PANEL
After signing up for Dreamhost, I was directed to their panel. It isn’t as intuitive due to its lack of cPanel but personally, I can manage with it.
Dreamhost Panel
After choosing the domain name and a little configuration in Dreamhost, I was directed to my pre-made WordPress account. The customization in the WordPress dashboard is intuitive and easy. Then I installed plugins for migration of my blogger account into WordPress.
THEME CONFIGURATION
Choose a theme from the wide range of themes available. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different sites even though they share the same platform which is WordPress. In WordPress.org it is a self-hosting site customization compared to the former. Meaning you can utilize its full customization and potential depending on your purpose. In addition, it has more themes to choose from and customization is very specific to the site owner, compared to the limitation of utilization and customization found in WordPress.com although it is free. They also have the plan to choose from in case you want to expound your blogging territory but it comes with a cost, of course.
House automation has been in-demand. Like Alexa who offers virtual assistance, Smarthome will take care of your wiring, CCTV, doorbells, secured wiring system and mechanized and technologically assembled products that will enhance security system,
Moreover, plugins are essentials and it has a direct effect on the outcome of the website you have in mind. This is one of the important aspects I try not to overlook. You see, I am meticulous in terms of details, so very little change is very important to me.
After finishing up all the themes, plugins, widgets and the customization is according to your liking, you can now publish it and wallah! Your website is live.
FREE BLOG VS PAID HOSTING 2020
Going back to what I stated, free blog sites are great for amateur bloggers. There are free blog sites this 2020 being offered by Blogger (Blogspot), WordPress.com, Wix, Drupal, Joomla, Ghost, Medium, etc. to name a few. The primary difference of free blog sites from hosting sites is your full control of the website. While free blog sites can do some of the main tasks that hosting sites could do, however, it is still limited to a point where monetizing your free site is difficult to impossible. Whereas, hosting sites will let you manage your sites up to the smallest details you want to do within your site. That what makes it appealing to the bloggers especially the professionals and creative thinkers.
SHOULD YOU BLOG THIS 2020?
I didn’t make this up for any sponsorship or product endorsement of any hosting sites. It was solely upon my choice as I want to share what I went through when starting a blog. Above all, for amateurs like me in such things, I hope you gained knowledge from my little know-how, steps, and tips when to blog or not to blog in 2020 and beyond

Google might have triggered an impending new monster that will eat them whole, depending on the outcome. This is a make or break move from Huawei. It is inevitable due to the ban that the US government imposed to Google. In a different perspective, Google had announced its universal OS in the works, the OS Fuchsia since 2016. Hongmeng OS or Project Z (according to some sources) of Huawei was just confirmed recently, although it is said that it is in the works since 2012. A Huawei executive has foreseen this scenario following the aggressive move of the US government about the never ending spying debacle.
In some reports, it was allegedly already being tested in some phones, hiding behind the curtain. Both OS Fuchsia and Hongmeng OS are running under universal operating system. It is actually a great innovation in mobile industry as there hasn’t any big companies to explore this region. There are related news that Microsoft has been exploring this in their Windows OS and Samsung has taken a pinch of this through their Continuum feature.
While this is expected to happen, the risk is high and Huawei is at stake here. Huawei has its own track record of innovation these past few years and they wouldn’t dethrone Apple in the #2 position if they aren’t doing a great job. Whether we like it or not, this has a benefit to us consumers and in the mobile technology. This would lessen the Mobile OS duopoly, and a new OS will be born from China that will compete directly against Google.
In the meantime, Huawei was given 3 months after the US government temporarily lifted the ban after news broke in the internet yesterday. Still, Huawei confirmed that it will still push updates to the old models and incoming new models and that the consumers wouldn’t be affected much. After which, Huawei will either comply or the US government will impose the ban in a full swing. As the recent leading OEM innovator, let’s see how Huawei will handle this. Hongmeng OS has its potential but still, it is a make or break for the company and for Google.
Chinese Title: 致我们暖暖的小时光 Origin: China (Adapted from a Novel) Genre: Romance, Comedy, School, Youth, Friendship, Family Actors: Fei Xing (Si Tu Mo); Lin Yi (Gu Wei Yi)
PLOT: As Si Tu Mo’s graduation is nearing, she is confused about her future plans. She tries out all sorts of things all the time and is unable to make her own decisions. Her ordinary days are suddenly shaken up when the genius Physics student Gu Wei Yi appears in her life. The two accidentally end up living together and chaos begins.
I have watched other Chinese dramas recently, so I am not new in how Chinese make their dramas. I was actually surprised that it evolved and adapted the Korean, and Japanese drama style. Whenever I hear Chinese dramas, what comes in mind are flying daggers, fantasy, magic and outstanding action scenes similar to Hong Kong. I was quite hesitant when it comes to Romance dramas. But it so happened that I came across one of its popular Romance Comedy recently, the Chinese Adaptation of the Meteor Garden 2018 which I honestly liked among all its adaptations.
After which, I saw this another Chinese Romance Comedy entitled, “Put your head on my Shoulder”. The teaser was great that it made me watched the entire series in Youtube.
First is the story, I am very particular when it comes to the story of a drama. It is my first criteria and the breaking point if I should watch it or not. I don’t care whether it is popular. I watched some popular Romance Comedy dramas that didn’t impress me based in the plot alone. The story of Put your head on my Shoulder is light. It was cute so to speak and consistent until the end. I avoided watching heavily themed drama these days, so Put your head on my Shoulder is just right. There wasn’t any heavy conflicts, and villains. It is just the romantic and cute everyday encounter of Mo Mo (Si Tu Mo) and Gu Wei Yi.
Picgra
The characters were shallow but their was a character maturity along the way. Unlike the typical Romance genre of a love triangle cliche, I didn’t find that in this drama. There was an introduction of supposedly love interest but there was no affairs or flirting What made this consistent is the undeniable chemistry of Fei Xing and Lin Yi. Lin Yi by the way is a new actor and this is his first lead role. I am surprised that he delivered a great acting here for a first timer in a lead. The same as Dylan Wang who delivered a great acting for the Meteor Garden 2018, a new actor and first time in a lead role. I see a bright future for Dylan Wang and Lin Yi. Not every new actor in a lead role can deliver a great acting.
There was a side story of Fu Pei and Shan Shan in this drama. Do not fret, they took an important part to the life of the main casts especially in Si Tu Mo’s. The chemistry of Lin Yi and Fei Xing is so natural. I shipped their pair to be a real couple someday. Mo Mo is bubbly, cute and her antics are so natural. Meanwhile, Gu Wei Yi is kind of a serious, good-looking nerd and goody-goody type of a guy. But he also values friendship and he isn’t the nerd and boring type of a guy given that he is a topnotcher and genius college student among his co-leagues. dramawiki
dramawiki
Overall, it was a feel good romance comedy drama that you will love. Very relatable and their relationship maybe typical but how they manage the everyday crisis was the takeaway. There are many cute and funny moments of these two that you can’t help but to smile. Btw, Gu Wei Yi was a faithful guy. The ending was cliche, but I think it was the right thing to do. Not the greatest, but I think it is great in its own way.

Election period had ended. Local officials were proclaimed while the national positions are under tallying. Some voters were discouraged of the outcome, crying out rigging of votes; throwing out low blows against their opponents even before the campaigning period started. To the extent of filing a lawsuit because of the personal damages these candidates incurred to one another. While for some, they are celebrating for the victory of their candidates. This is the typical scene you will see every election in the Philippines.
Typical drama, typical narratives, typical promises and agendas that might become a wishful thinking after they took the government office. Compared to the previous election albeit the shove-at-your-face irregularities, this year’s election gained enormous success and confidence from the people. This is the undeniable outcome of support from the pro-administration to the government. Of course, the opposition or the losing side would react to this statement. Take in mind that we have different opinions. Whether we like it or not, whatever the outcome the Comelec will declare, that is final. But just a little throwback, especially if you are aware of the dirty politics in some parts of the country, thanked God because it wasn’t bloody nor disaster this year.
Fast forward, the school grounds was left with a pile of garbages from the voters. I believe, this is not just a clean-up work that should be done by the local government units but a volunteer task from the winning candidates, if not all people.
Fast forward now that they were elected, these questions should be taken in mind: How should I start, and what should I do to fulfill my promises and agendas to these constituents? What are the real problems that should be addressed immediately? What are the initiatives that should be implemented in order to attain progress? How can I be more of a help, a role model, and a great leader to these people? What ordinances and laws should be prioritize? What project layouts and infrastructures are needed to gain economic wealth, invite investors and attract tourists?
Working as a government official comes with a great responsibility, accountability, and sincerity. It is indeed a hard work, if your interest is for the welfare of your constituents. But it is also a pocketful source of wealth, if your interest is lobbying and corruption. The politics in the Philippines is gross, multi-faceted, fanaticism, patronage, troupe of clowns, religiously influenced and venal system. Qualifications are overbearing but donwright ineffectual. Experience is a must but morally tainted. A century-old system that should be abolished. This new breed of officials should initiate the change in accordance with this current government’s mandate of a corruption-free, competitive economy and a progressive country. Regardless of color and political affinity, we should aim for unity, and not a division. Pray for the welfare of our country and its leaders. Be a productive citizen of this state!
Today is a special day for mothers around the world. Flowers, gifts and social media greetings everywhere. Of course, it will not be special if I didn’t post my personal greeting to the special woman, the mother of my daughter– Evelyn.
I also knew for a fact that some of my readers are aware in my personal relationship. Well, for some who don’t, let me tell you a short description of my life. My mom left me and my sister when I was around one-year old. My aunt was the one who brought me to the province. She said that I was turning dark, sickly and I might die because of an illness. I don’t know the real reason and it might be unclear but the relationship of my parents wasn’t in good terms at that time.
My mom can’t manage to take care of us. My grandmother , back when she was still alive told me that when I was brought at the hospital, she told my grandma that she needs to go to her mother in the province but she’ll be back. So, she left me and my sister in my grandmother’s care. After that, I never saw nor heard from her ever again.
When I was growing up, I was forced to depend on myself. I learned to lean on no one. I don’t know how to express it but in all honesty, I never looked for her. In the same way, I never felt any anger or hatred against her. Of course, there was once a longing. There was once a pain of not seeing her, but that’s just it. I grew accustomed of having no mother. I learned the art of not giving a f*ck towards her. I learned to not show any emotion.
Every mother’s day, I write a letter to my grandma or my aunts. Well, whenever I have a mother’s day project in school, that is. It was a cycle. I don’t know why my mom doesn’t want to look for us. Or even just an attempt to do so back then. That is, if she is still alive somewhere out there.
FINAL THOUGHTS
There will always be a longing. There will always be a void in my identity, my being that only my mom can fill. I don’t know how it feels to have a mother. I am glad that my daughter never experienced it. I don’t know if she is still alive. I don’t know if she is looking for us. I don’t know if that might come, to see her personally. I will never know what was she thinking back then. What was her reasons for leaving me behind. I don’t know if there will ever come a time that we will cross paths. I don’t know if I want to see her. I don’t know if I love her. I don’t know if aborting me is much better than leaving me behind. Those are the many “I don’ts” that I have in my life, that I might never know the answers.
Mothers, love your children. Let them understand what you are feeling. Let them feel that they are loved. Don’t let them suffer the consequence of your decisions. They never wanted it, they don’t deserve it.
Happy Mother’s Day to all! Thank you for the life you had given us- your children.
Japanese: メアリと魔女の花 Meari to Majo no Hana Produced by: Yoshiaki Nishimura Released: 2017
Plot: Mary Smith moves into the British estate of her Great Aunt Charlotte ahead of her parents. The bored, friendless girl tries to make herself useful through chores, but she repeatedly messes up. A local boy named Peter teases her for both her clumsiness and her wild red hair, which she hates.
Tib-cat and Gib-cat, Peter’s cats, lead Mary to some mysterious glowing flowers. Zebedee, the estate gardener, identifies the flowers as “fly-by-night”; legend has it that witches covet the flower for its magical power. The next day, Gib-cat disappears and Mary follows Tib-cat to go look for her. Tib-cat leads her to a broomstick ensnared in a tree’s roots. Mary frees the broomstick but accidentally bursts a fly-by-night bulb on it. The bulb releases magical power in the form of a blue gelatinous substance, making the broomstick come to life and enabling Mary to ride it like a witch. The Little Broomstick whisks Mary and Tib-cat away to a complex of buildings hidden in the clouds, known as Endor College for witches.
The headmistress Madame Mumblechook assumes Mary is a new pupil with Tib-cat as her familiar and takes her on a tour of the college. The tour reveals a campus with modern technology and conveniences, wherein witches take courses in the magic arts alongside fields of science such as chemistry. During the tour, Madame introduces Mary to Doctor Dee, the College’s renowned chemistry teacher. Mary finds herself able to perform advanced spells such as invisibility. Madame and Doctor Dee become convinced that Mary is a prodigy, because of her performance as well as her red hair, which turns out to be a distinguishing feature among the best witches.
At Madame’s office, Mary finds a spellbook hidden behind a picture of fly-by-night. Mary admits that her magical ability comes from fly-by-night and that Tib-cat actually belongs to Peter. Madame’s attitude to Mary suddenly changes, but she still lets Mary return home. That night, Madame sends a message to Mary informing her that she’s kidnapped Peter, and demands that Mary turn the fly-by-night bulbs to her. She and Tib-cat quickly fly back to Endor with the bulbs, but Madame and Doctor Dee imprison her instead in Doctor Dee’s transformation spell lab. Mary finds Peter locked in the lab with her, and discovers that Doctor Dee has been experimenting on animals transforming them into fantastic creatures, including Gib-cat. In the spellbook, Mary finds a spell that can undo all magic, and she uses it to undo all the transformations and to unlock the lab. They try to escape on the Little Broomstick, but Madame and Doctor Dee recapture Peter.
The Little Broomstick takes Mary to an isolated cottage. Within the cottage, Mary finds notes on transformation spells and a mirror that Great Aunt Charlotte uses to contact her. Charlotte reveals that the cottage was her previous home, and she used to be a red-haired pupil that excelled at Endor. But one day Charlotte found fly-by-night on the campus, leading Madame and Doctor Dee to obsessively pursue a project to use the flower to transform all humans into witches. When one of their experiments disastrously failed, Charlotte decided to escape Endor, taking the flower with her. Charlotte begs Mary to use her last bulbs to return home, but Mary vows to rescue Peter instead.
Mary returns to Endor and finds Madame and Doctor Dee trying to use the flower to transform Peter into a witch. But the experiment fails again, leaving Peter trapped within a gelatinous monster that rampages across the campus. Mary gets the spellbook to Peter, and Peter uses it to undo the failed experiment as well as all of Madame and Doctor Dee’s research. Mary and Peter finally return home, with Mary throwing away her last bulb and saying she does not need magic.
It’s a feel-good movie. The story is light and it has the elements of a typical Japanese anime. What is impressive about this movie and it should be commendable is its animation. It didn’t fail an otaku like me, instead, it delivered an outstanding to almost perfect animation quality.
